Lerab Ling - Institute of Wisdom and Compassion

Located to the northwest of Montpellier in France, Lerab Ling, Institute of Wisdom and Compassion has established itself as one of the leading centres of Tibetan Buddhist culture and learning in Europe.

Under the patronage of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the institute provides a series of outreach and secular programmes translating the core values of the ancient wisdom tradition of Buddhism into different fields of contemporary life.

The Institute of Wisdom and Compassion organise since 2002 the forums Buddhism and Medicine and the International conferences.

These events aim to multiply the links between the Buddhist science of mind and western science such as medicine and therapy. Their objective is also to explore the benefits and the changes that meditation and compassion can bring to our modern world. They gathered since their creation more than 5,000 people.

The 1st International Conference in 2014 , Meditation and Human Values in the Workplace, explored how meditation and human values – such as wisdom and compassion – can come together to change the way we live and work today.

The 2nd International Conference in 2015, Mindfulness & Awareness - Bringing Wisdom into Society, explained the true purpose of meditation and envisioned what the world would look like if we were able to bring mindfulness and awareness into every aspect of our lives.
